Home

Saffron Walden's longest established traditional English tea house.  We have plenty of secluded outdoor seating, overlooking Jubilee Gardens and its bandstand (where local orchestras and jazz bands play on an occasional Saturday during the summer months).  Established in 2003 and situated within an airy Georgian building (built c.1720), just a few minutes' walk from the market square, we're proud to have once again been awarded a five star hygiene rating.

We stock a huge range of leaf tea (probably the widest selection in Essex) running to around sixty different black, green, white and herbal teas.  All our tea is also available for purchase by the packet, so if you find something you particularly like, you can take some home with you.

We also serve all types of coffee, including Pure Jamaican Blue Mountain, eight single-origin coffees, our house blend and at least one "guest" coffee every month.  Our coffee guide explains all the different choices available to you (in plain English), so that simply buying a cup of coffee does not require a masters in barista terminology or Italian!

Unfortunately, due to space constraints, we do not allow pushchairs or prams inside, nor do we offer highchairs or baby-changing facilities.

We do, however, have very easy wheelchair access to both indoor and outdoor areas.  Well behaved dogs are always welcome.

We believe that you should be able to sit and relax while you are with us, so we stick to the old traditional way of ordering your food and/or drink. We come to you, once you've had the opportunity to scan through the menus, and then we take your order.  No need to queue at a counter, pay in advance and then try to negotiate your way to a table, complete with shopping and hot drink!  We do it properly.

We now accept most debit and credit cards.
